#mycommitment: 12 months of giving january recap

january's 12 months of giving challenge was to clean out your closet and donate the items.  i am pretty good about cleaning out my closet - i usually go through it about once a month and get rid of items that i don't wear.  since i just recently did a major purge at the end of last year, i didn't have much to donate.  but, i did go through that pesky "oh, i will wear this when i loose weight" pile and toss them all into a trash bag along with a few other things i never wear but have somehow kept in my closet for no reason at all.  the way i see it - when i loose weight, i'm not going to want to wear old clothes, i want to reward myself with new clothes because i earned them!

i went through my closet, my purses, my shoes and even my dresser drawers and filled up my black trash bag.  off to the local second hand shop i went and dropped off my bag.  i always feel a little "lighter" after donating clothes.  not only does it make me feel good to clean out my closet, but it feels great to donate to the community as well.

here's my closet before & after the clean out:

if you want to join in on the 12 months of giving fun, head on over to kristin's page to learn more and link up.  this month is donating blood and i'd be lying if i said i wasn't nervous!!  can't wait to share how this next experience goes!

Yay! Your closet looks great! And doesn't it feel great?! I'm with you...I had a lot of clothes that were too big but I wanted to hold on to for sentimental reasons, etc. I'd rather buy new stuff though ;) And hey, what better justification to buy new things than literally not having anything that fits in your closet?!

And don't worry...I'm WAY nervous too about giving blood :)
