saturday night was one for the books! my man-friend and i hit up the annual oc brew hee haw at the orange country fair and had the time of our lives. there were 80 local breweries there handing out samples of at least 2 of their best beers. it was so much fun talking to local brewers, sampling beers i've never tasted or even heard of before, and getting to spend time at the fair. we even ended the night with giant corndogs and a couple rounds of carnival games! all in all, an a+ evening!!

hi guys and happy tuesday. today i wanna share one of my favorite summer things to do in orange county ... the fair!
i have been going to the fair every summer since i was little. i love all the livestock, ooing and awwing at the baby pigs, and laughing at the goats as they run around their pens. walking through the giant sunflowers and corn rows makes me feel like im out at the farm, and the rows and rows of peppers get me antsy to start a garden of my own. there's just something about the fair that really makes me happy. memories of the time spent there as a kid, the carefree atmosphere, the endless possibilities of activities and shows to see, and the elaborate food choices. there really isn't anything better.
last sunday my cousin kim and i met up at the fair and spent some time together. our night was filled with giant corn dogs, over priced beer, carnival games and baby piggies. the weather was outstanding and our time together was even better. i wish the fair ran all year long.

One of my favorite things about summer is the fair. Growing up we went to the Orange County fair every summer. We'd ride the rides until we turned green and eat funnel cakes until we couldn't fit any more in our bellies. There's something about the fair that I just love. I can't really put my finger on it though. The atmosphere just gets me. Everyone is so happy at the fair. It's a very electric place.
My favorite part of the fair has always been the livestock area. I love all the animals. I could stand and watch them all day long. I also love the farming area, with all the veggies and flowers planted in rows and rows, perfectly labeled and organized. It inspires me to start a garden of my own.
We had a great time at the fair Friday night. My mom and I took my grandma since she hasn't been in a number of years. She zipped around in her motorized scooter and had a smile on her face the whole time. She even indulged in some bbq ribs and a giant, fair sized donut! We saw a senior lady beauty contest, the ice museum, new born piglets and a pie eating contest. What more could you want from an afternoon at the fair?
