Tourist: Sawdust Festival, Laguna Beach

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Nestled in the cliffs lies a funky little beach town full of art and fabulous dining.  Each summer, Laguna Beach plays hosts to the Festival of the Arts, the Sawdust Festival, Pageant of the Masters and more.  With all the love for art floating around in the air you can't help but get swallowed up in it yourself.

It's been a summer to-do of mine to visit the Sawdust Festival each year for as long as I can remember.  My mom and I usually make it a fun afternoon and throw in some lunch and window shopping through Laguna.  Since Laguna is only a quick 15 minute drive up PCH from San Clemente, it makes for a fun little outing.

Browsing through the crafts and pictures and many jewelry stands is so much fun.  The Sawdust Fest is it's own little artists' haven, full of anything artsy you can imagine.  From glass blowing to pottery, they have it all.  The area is earthy and lies right next to a hill in an eucalyptus grove complete with water falls and ponds.  The people are always so friendly.  It's a great way to spend a summer afternoon.
