i'm so excited to have {av} here to kick off the guest posts for my tourist tuesdays travel series.  i have loved her and her blog for quite some time nowand i envy her east coast style living.  her favorite spring vacation spot looks like such a wonderful getaway, i'm tempted to book a flight cross country now!  so feel free to put your seat backs in the reclining position, enjoy a cold beverage, and enjoy the ride.

Hello friends! My name is {av}--and on a normal day, you can find me at {long distance loving}. Today is no ordinary day though! I get to share a little about one of my favorite destinations in New England--Newport, Rhode Island. I moved to the Ocean State in June 2009 and soon discovered the joys of this gorgeous little city. Though I live in Providence, I'm lucky to have Newport just 45 minutes away! Here are a few tips if you decide to make the trip to my backyard :)
where to eat:
LUNCH: I love love love the lobster grilled cheese they serve at 22 Bowen's Wharf Bar & Grille.
SNACK: Grab a tasty treat at The Cookie Jar to take as you explore Newport :)
DINNER: You can't miss the seafood at The Mooring. The atmosphere is quintessentially coastal--and you can even order your drinks on an iPad.
where to visit:
The Breakers {and the rest of the Newport Mansions} are worth an afternoon on your trip--you can experience the opulence of the gilded age firsthand and see a side of America you didn't knew existed. While you're at the mansions, you cannot miss the Cliff Walk...it is literally a walking path right next to the Atlantic Ocean. If you're a tennis fan, you'll love the International Tennis Hall of Fame, chock full of history and lots of incredible memorabilia. There are so many other fun places to explore, but I won't give it all away...because half of the fun of your visit is finding your way around the old streets of this seaside town. And before you leave--you cannot miss a sunset cruise around the Newport Harbor and the Narragansett bay. {Oh--and there are plenty of beaches to be found...if that's more your speed!}
I promise you'll love the nautical nature of Newport--and won't regret your visit for a second ;)

Thanks for having me, Kelsey!
xoxo {av}

This is an awesome post! I went to Rhode Island when I was younger and had an amazing time - and yes, the seafood was PHENOM! Just found you through {AV} and can't wait to read more!

I'm from Connecticut but practically grew up in Rhode Island. Gotta love Newport! Thanks for brining back some home for me.
