Hola peeps! I'm Olivia from Olivia.Dee and I'm taking over for this week's edition of Tourist Tuesday.
Though I've just hit my 6 year mark in San Diego, I will still always call Santa Barbara my home.
And that is exactly where I'll be taking you today!

A day in Santa Barbara... with a local.

One of my favorite things to do is eat breakfast. It's usually a rare occasion nowadays when a full-time job gets in the way. Anytime I'm back home I make certain that we head out to breakfast each morning.
One of my all time favorite spots is the Cajun Kitchen.

This place holds sooo many memories for me.
Most specifically, ditching class in college to enjoy breakfast with my best friends.

If you ever find yourself at this amazing restaurant, make sure you order the Rancher's Omelet.
It is my go-to, with a cup of coffee and a bloody mary when the occasion calls for one.

After breakfast you are going to find yourself INCREDIBLY full, or at least I usually do.
And seeing as the restaurant is literally around the corner from the main strip, make sure you take a walk through the mall.
There isn't anything special about State Street or Paseo Nuevo Mall to me, but it is kind of the best place to people watch. Or run into half of your high school class.
SBHS c/o 2004! Holler!

So do a little shopping,
take in the man on the corner that has a bird sitting on a rat, sitting on a cat, sitting on a dog,
or better yet, make your way down to the beach and Sterns Wharf.

After you've done some walking around, be prepared to eat some more.
Cause really that's all I really like to do with my life.

If you know me, or live within a 15 mile vicinity of me in San Diego you will know how much I miss my pizza from Santa Barbara: Rusty's Pizza

OH MY GOODNESS. I looove me some Rusty's.
My fondest memory of this pizza place was going after the Football games with the team and friends to watch the highlights on Friday Football Focus. It was always so much fun!
Now, I realize that they're a little on the pricey side (we even have to pay for a side of ranch!) but I still make sure that we grab a pizza pie at LEAST once each visit.
I mean... look at it:

Alright, now that you're all loaded up on deliciousness... and probably in a food coma...
there is nothing left to do but get a few drinks in ya!

One of my new favorite things about Santa Barbara is the Funk Zone.
The Funk Zone is a part of the Urban Wine Trail. Basically it's an area of town with LOTS of tasting rooms. And you can walk or bike to every single one, though you probably can't tolerate a tasting at every single one.
My favorite three are:
Corks n Crowns
Kunin
Municipal

The atmosphere in each of these places is just wonderful.
It's a great way to get the ball rolling into the night.

Yep, you guessed it, we're back into food... dinner!
I highly recommend The Brewhouse.

Grab a beer, grab some steak bites, and a group of great friends and you are in for a fun experience.
It's a local joint just off the main drag and super mellow and fun.

Don't get too comfortable because really you're going to want a night out on the town.
I will ALWAYS love and hate and recommend the Wildcat Lounge.
Shitty Kitty to the locals.

It's dark and steamy, dirty and grimy, and my FAVORITE spot for a night of strong drinks and dancing.
I am ALWAYS a happy camper if the night includes a trip to the Wildcat.
It also doesn't hurt that I know me some bartenders.
Thank goodness for being a local!

Well there you have it.
A trip with a local through Santa Barbara.
I hope you had fun... cause I know that I did.
And also... I may have just gotten a little homesick.
Anyone ready to take a trip with me!?

I went to school at UCSB and lived there for several years. Big thumbs up for the Cajun Kitchen and Shitty Kitty recommendations. I spent at least part of every weekend I lived in SB at the Kitty. Their Halloween parties are the best!
