la adventure // the hollywood bowl

Monday, September 23, 2013

labor day weekend i had the opportunity to head up to hollywood and see john williams and the la philharmonic play at the hollywood bowl.  john williams is a fantastic conductor who has done the scores to all of the steven spielberg movies.  talk about epic! every summer he puts on a concert with the la philharmonic orchestra, one of the premier orchestras around.  he plays songs from the movies he is most well known for; indiana jones, lincoln, e.t. and star wars, to name a few.

the coolest part of the whole thing?  the hollywood bowl.  that place is awesome.  i had never been to the bowl before and i was in awe the minute we walked in.  we had great seats in one of the boxes, pretty much dead center! you can bring in picnics and beverages or you can order dinner from the bowl and enjoy food before the show.

the night we went was a warm one, so we sipped on some crisp white wine as we enjoyed the show.  it was so relaxing, being under the starts listening to all the movie songs you know be played by an unbelievably talented orchestra.  it was definitely a night to remember.

la adventure // ronald reagan presidential library

Monday, August 26, 2013

last week my mom, her friend and i headed out to the valley to check out the ronald reagan presidential library and museum.  i wasn't really sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised the entire day.  the library & museum sit atop a hill overlooking the entire simi valley, wide open views in all directions, and gorgeous gardens and architecture.  plus, the weather was gorgeous, which made the trip that much better.

the museum itself is so informative and covers reagans entire life - wow that man accomplished so many things in his life!  it was like a walk through history; remembering different events ive learned about and talking with my mom and her friend who lived through them.  they even have air force one AND you can walk through it!  i had such a great time and totally recommend checking out the reagan library if you're looking for something different and fun to do in southern california.

la adventure // the getty

Monday, August 19, 2013

last week my friend and i headed up to los angeles to hit up the getty museum.  i had never been to the getty before and we seriously couldn't have picked a better day to go.  the weather was beautiful and we had such a great time exploring the museum and the grounds.  the getty is huge and overlooks westwood, ucla and santa monica.  it's such a gorgeous location, perched up on a hill above the chaos that's la down below.   pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic and the views from the gardens.  plus, admission to the museum is free!  i would definitely recommend heading to the getty if you are in la.

sunny spot // venice

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

while i was in la over the weekend i had the chance to get together with my girlfriends for brunch at sunny spot.  sunny spot is the cutest place ever and the food is awesome.  just blocks from the beach in venice, sunny spot has delicious bloody marys, great caribbean dishes and an awesome aesthetic.  it also doesn't hurt that my friends and i were able to enjoy bottomless libations and chat for almost 3 hours without anyone rushing us to leave, my favorite part about the day.  i definitely recommend heading to sunny spot if you're in la and partaking in the fun.
