Wednesday, November 28, 2012

i always find it hard to buy for guys.  clothes and video games can get boring year after year, and there's only so many concerts or sports games that go on during the holiday season.  i decided to do a little research on a few of my favorite guy sites to see just what was all the talk for this christmas.  out of the hundreds of crazy gadgets and gizmos, here are a few of my favorites that are sure to make a statement in your honey's stocking come christmas morning.

a collapsable shot glass flask is perfect for any man who loves to bring the party with him wherever he goes!  taking shots is much better than sipping out of a flask - an manlier too!  at only $25 it's the perfect stocking stuffer for the life of the party!

got a sports fan on your hands? this deuce brand personalized sports team watch is the perfect game day accessory for any man.  pick from a variety of colleges, professional teams and even players.  ranging from $20 - $35 you'll have no problem finding a perfect fit for your star athlete.

how about something for your working man?  a usb desk refrigerator perhaps?  now he can keep his drinks cool at his desk by plugging in this ultra mini fridge!  and at $40 it will save many trips to vending machine (and wallet).

does your guy love to cook?  or do you wish he did?  what better way to get him into cooking (or cooking more) than with what the f should i make for dinner? cookbook.  this cookbook is hilarious and is aimed directly at men.  it's filled with lots of curse words and yummy dishes!  only $11.

love sushi? hate chopsticks?  well there's an answer for that! forkchops 3-in-1 utensils will solve all those problems.  at only $6 they are the perfect stocking stuffer & will hopefully lead to more exotic date nights!

need a gift for your manly man? how about 101 whiskies to try before you die!?  there's nothing wrong with having some good quality whiskey around the house.  $14 on amazon.

looking for something unique for your golfer guy? try quick spikes golf spikes.  whether your man is you’re just being dragged onto the green by his client or he's not feeling the style of golf shoes, quick spikes are the perfect gift. at only $15 they make for affordable wearable studs that he can put on any shoes.

and how about for your tech lover?  why not stuff a pivot power mini portable power into his stocking this year?  this little thing packs a powerful punch - it can transform a single socket into four fabulous features.  it's compact, collapsible design delivers two grounded outlets and two USB ports. $25

for your handy man, how about a hammer beer opener?  that way, when he's done being mr. fix it, he can pop open a cold one without having to look to far for an opener.  nothing makes a man happier than some dirty work and an ice cold beer.  it's a man thing.  $8 on amazon

and for your music lover, the go anywhere MP3 speakers are the perfect gift.  these speakers let you bring music anywhere and what they sacrifice in size, they are sure to make up in sound!  want more impromptu dance parties with your honey?  look no further! $29

a mans xmas list

im sure we have all seen our fair share of christmas wish lists floating around the interwebs as of late.  and im sure you have seen many gift guides or idea lists to make your shopping a little easier.  i put together a few gift guides awhile back, but thought it would be fun to ask the "men" what they are really asking santa for this year.  sure, we all think we have some kind of idea of what they might like, but you never really know until you ask.  canigetanamen?

so i asked some of my "man" friends what sort of things are on their christmas wish lists and this is what i got.  fyi, i put man in quotes because most of these guys are in the 20's and i have a hard time categorizing them as men, haha.

"a tv and a new macbook, mine's two years old" - brian, 30, accountant
"a tattoo" - brian, 23, navy corpsman
"workout equipment" - kevin, 21, student
"a new lift for my truck" - mark, 22, sea world presentation assistant
"a new macbook" - aaron, 22, music industry
"superbowl tickets" - eric, 24, brand manage for e&j gallo wineries
"a road bike and some clothes" - kevin c., 21, student
"a nice winter coat, or watch" - brett, 23, unemployed
"a $300 watch.  nixon 40-20 chrono in silver" - jason, 28, restaurant manager
"headphones and cash" - jake, 22, student
"a car. a scion tc if you were wondering" - justin, 32, solar panel sales
"a dslr" - bryan, 23, student & vans sales associate
"a new faceplate for my car stereo & toms movember shoes; they're rad" - drew, 24, grad student
"a hard drive" - nick, 24, student
"if i played video games, i would want the new batman game. & if i read books, i would want a kindle. BUT i do neither so some new work clothes would be nice" - danny, 24, accountant
"workout shoes, or a watch, something useful" - george, 23, personal trainer
"modern warfare 3.  can't go wrong with video game" - kevin b., 21, student
"a car, but that's not going to happen, so shoes, jackets or kitchenware.  something i need" - eddie, 23, chef

so there you have it, girls.  a little insight into what the men are really hoping santa brings them this year.

a little truth about guys

Monday, October 31, 2011

As I was watching "The Ugly Truth" last night I thought about how fun it would be to write a post about guys since I'm sure I'm not the only girl who finds herself wondering "what the heck is he thinking?" or "why are guys so complicated?"  So I turned to some of my guy friends and asked, "if there was one thing you wish every girl knew about men, what would it be?"  Here you go ladies - a little peak into the minds of the men of the world.  We've got some real winning answers in here - ha!

"Women are the basis to 90% of all our decisions we make." - Danny, 24, Tax Consultant

"My mom will always come first." - Mark, 22, Sea World Visual Production

"We aren't as tough as we appear to be." - Andrew, 21, Student

"Video games are not bad, or a waste of time." - Matt, 24, Wealth Manager

"That small insecurity you have doesn't really bother us, at the end of the day, we're together and thats all that matters." - Eddie, 23, Chef

"We don't all think the same way." - Collin, 25, Bartender

"We actually like the imperfections." - Kyle, 23, Manager

"It's not always about getting into your pants. Sometimes we just want to talk and have a conversation and get to know you. But when you act like a bitch, it's a turnoff and any thoughts of actually getting to know you are gone." - Kevin, 22, Student

"Don't change yourself to try and change a man, let him be changed by who u are." - Timothy, 22, Graduate Student

"When we ask a question we want an answer, not another question." - Brian, 30, Accountant

"Food on the table when I get home is an easy way to my heart and open wallet." - Jason, 28, Restaurant Manager

"Be honest and don't play games.  If you like a guy, or have something to say, just say it.  Because if we find out some other way, it's going to annoy us.  Oh, and we actually do care about how we look just as much as you do." - Kyle, 25, Camp Director

"Men dont want the girl to agree with every decision we make. I like a girl that can stand her own ground and be independent. If you make it too easy for me I'm gonna be over it in a matter of weeks" - George, 23, Personal Banker
